Medallion Sounds continues its philosophy of bringing a discerning variety of sounds to the label with their latest signing, Vandemons.
A collaboration between two artists living in the same world from two different countries - Australia and Singapore - Dee Norris and Vanessa Fernandez a.k.a. Vandetta first met in the Malaysian jungle where they spent 10 days jamming at the beginning of 2016. Over the course of a year the duo remotely refined their musical collaboration anchored around an experimentation in rhythm & melody. Thus the Self Titled EP was born.
The Self Titled EP is full of fast/slow and hard/soft. It slips through interconnected synth beats that take influence from hip-hop, footwork, pop, and the underground beats scene. The crushing and futuristic sounds of this self-aware production draw from the past yet sits and looks towards the alternate future. Vanessa’s pure soul energy carries this EP through from start to finish. Connecting the dots between its subtleties and stand out moments.
Supporting this release are three well worked remixes from heavyweights Royalston, Stereotyp. And Tehbis X Touchy Subject.
